Mustangs seventh in South 8 District Championships after Round 2
Third and final round is Tuesday at Cider Ridge in Oxford
The Northeast Alabama Community College men's golf team will enter the final round of the 2026 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Men's Golf South District 8 Championships in seventh place.
The Mustangs, who were sixth after Round 1, shot a combined team score of 35-over in today's second round. They are two shots back of sixth-place Snead State and eight shots back of fifth-place Lurleen B. Wallace after two rounds of the district tournament at Cider Ridge Golf Club in Oxford.
The third and final round is set for Tuesday. The tournament's team champion and runner-up as well as the Top-10 finishing individual golfers advance to next month's NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships in Plymouth, Indiana.
In the individual standings, NACC's Braden Holt is part of a five-golfer tie for 20th place with a two-round score of 15-over par. The freshman shot a 9-over par 81 in today's second round in which he posted eight pars and one birdie.
Sophomore Ethan Roberts is tied for 25th with a two-round 16-over. Roberts shot an 8-over 80 in each of the first two rounds, including today's second round in which he recorded nine pars and two birdies.
Greyson Widgeon is part of a three-golfer tie for 28th with a two-round 18-over. The sophomore shot an 8-over 80 in Round 2 while recording 10 pars and two birdies.
Reed Potter is 31st after two rounds. The sophomore shot a 12-over par 84 with seven pars and three birdies in Round 2.
Blake Maples, who subbed in for NACC in today's second round, carded a 10-over par 82. His round featured four birdies and four pars.
NACC golfers conclude the South District 8 Championships on Tuesday. Maples tees off at 9:10 a.m. followed by Widgeon at 9:20 a.m., Potter at 9:30 a.m., Holt at 9:40 a.m. and Roberts at 9:50 a.m.
