Mustangs place seventh in ACCC Men’s Golf Championships
NACC’s Roberts, Holt named to all-tournament team; Roberts named All-ACCC
The Northeast Alabama Community College men's golf team opened the postseason on a strong note.
The Mustangs finished seventh in the 2026 Alabama Community College Conference Division II Men's Golf Championships at Cypress Lakes Golf Club in Muscle Shoals.
NACC posted a collective team score of 39-over par in the event, which held the first two rounds on Monday and the third and final round on Tuesday.
"We were just a handful of shots away from being fourth," said first-year NACC head coach Jabo Moore. "I had several coaches say to me how much we've improved from the start of the season. We're trending in the right direction."
Sophomore Ethan Roberts and freshman Braden Holt received All-ACCC Tournament honors for the Mustangs. Roberts tied for fourth with a three-round score of 3-over par while Holt was sixth at 4-over for the tournament.
"They both played really well," Moore said. "Ethan was the leader after Round 1 but just couldn't buy a putt in the second round. The third round, he got hot and went birdie-par-eagle at the end. (Holt) has made a big improvement throughout the year. He's building confidence and has been playing really well."
Roberts shot 3-under par 68 in Round 1, 5-over 76 in Round 2 and 1-over 72 in Round 3. Holt's respective round finishes were 2-over par 73, 1-under par 70 and 3-over par 74.
Sophomores Reed Potter and Greyson Widgeon finished tied for 34th and 41st respectively for NACC while freshman Reece McKlintok tied for 47th. Potter shot 4-over par 75s in each of the first two rounds and 10-over in Round 3 while Widgeon bounced back from a 12-over par opening round to go 6-over 77 in Round 2 and 3-over 74 in Round 3. McKlintok had rounds of 7-over, 4-over and 16-over.
Meanwhile, Roberts was also named to the all-conference team. The Scottsboro native collected 2026 All-ACCC honors for his work during a regular season in which he posted six Top-10 finishes.
"Ethan, he's just so consistent," Moore said. "You always know you're going to get a good outing from him."
Next up for the Mustangs is the National Junior College Athletic Association South District 8 Championships April 19-21 at Cider Ridge Golf Club in Oxford. The Top-2 teams and Top-10 individual finishers in the district tournament advance to play in the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship May 19-22 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
