NACC golfers post solid finishes at Jefferson State Women’s Golf Spring Invitational
The Northeast Alabama Community College women's golf team turned in solid performances during its latest tournament.
NACC posted an 11th-place finish in the Jefferson State Women's Golf Spring Invitational, which was held Monday and Tuesday at Marcus Pointe Golf Club in Pensacola, Florida.
Jillian Lyness led the NACC effort, finishing tied for 26th place in the individual standings after shooting a two-round 32-over par. The freshman carded a 17-over 90 during the 73-par Round 1 before shooting a 15-over 88 in Round 2, a round that included a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole.
A big Round 2 performance helped freshman Gracie Sullivan rise 13 spots in the individual standings to tie for 38th-place after with a two-round score of 37-over. Sullivan shot an 11-over par 84 in Tuesday's second round, which included a birdie on the Par-4 10th hole.
Meanwhile, NACC sophomores Angel Fulks and Taylor Bishop finished 60th and 62nd respectively.
Next up for the Mustangs is the Calhoun Invitational March 23-24 at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur.
