NACC’s Edwards named ACCC Pitcher of the Week for fourth time
Freshman right-hander now 10-0 on the season
Addie Edwards is now a four-time Alabama Community College Conference pitcher of the week.
After receiving the award in each of the first three weeks of the season, the freshman right-hander from Chatsworth, Georgia has now taken the honor four of five weeks after another dominant week in the circle.
The ACCC announced its Conference Players of the Week on Tuesday.
Edwards went 2-0 last week for the Mustangs, recording 12 strikeouts and allowing only one run, five hits and one walk over 14 innings pitched while improving to 10-0 with one save.
Edwards pitched a one-hit shutout during a 4-0 win against Georgia Highlands March 4, recording eight strikeouts, no walks and one hit batter. Edwards pitched to just two batters over the minimum during her seven innings of work while throwing 51 of her 68 pitches for strikes.
The following day, Edwards allowed one run on five hits and one walk while recording four strikeouts in a 4-1 victory over Roane State.
Edwards currently leads the ACCC in wins (10), strikeouts (70), ERA (0.57), complete games (10) and WHIP (0.57). She has surrendered only six runs (five earned) over 61 innings pitched this season and sports a 14:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
NACC is back in action Thursday at 1 p.m. at Nathaniel Ledbetter Stadium when its hosts Calhoun for a doubleheader to begin ACCC play. The Mustangs were origianlly scheduled to visit Calhoun Thursday but will now host Thursday's two games before visiting Calhoun for a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m.).
