NACC men’s golf team set for conference tournament
The Alabama Community College Conference Men’s Golf Championships begin Monday
The postseason has arrived for the Northeast Alabama Community College men's golf team.
NACC competes in the Alabama Community College Conference Division II Men's Golf Championship tournament Monday and Tuesday at Cypress Lakes Golf Club in Muscle Shoals.
NACC head coach Jabo Moore said the Mustangs' goal for the tournament is consistency in all three rounds.
"I would like to see them play very boring, simple, safe golf," Moore said. "Pars are their friend — the more they make, the better we score."
Playing in the ACCC Championships for the Mustangs are sophomores Reed Potter, Ethan Roberts and Greyson Widgeon and freshmen Braden Holt and Reece McKlintok.
NACC golfers are no stranger to Cypress Lakes. They all played the course during the fall season and four of the five NACC golfers played meaningful tournaments there during their high school golf careers.
"Luckily for us our kids have played this course. They know the challenges of the course and we are going to use that to our advantage," Moore said. "Golf courses in the fall are in prime condition compared to courses in the spring. Each hole could still play differently than it did in the fall, but it will be helpful to have seen the layout of the course."
The first two rounds will be played Monday with the third and final round set for Tuesday.
"Each golfer has shown great improvement, now it's just a matter of if we can all play well in the same round," Moore said. "We've shown that we can finish in the top-three one round out of three. We just have to put it together and play a solid three rounds as a team."
