Roberts, Maples lead NACC golfers in Round 1 of Coastal Alabama North Spring Invitational
Tournament concludes Tuesday at Juniper Creek in Brewton
Ethan Roberts and Blake Maples turned in solid opening rounds as new head coach Jabo Moore's Northeast Alabama Men's Golf team opened its 2026 season Monday.
The Mustangs played Round 1 of the Coastal Alabama North Spring Invitational Monday at the Juniper Creek Golf Club in Brewton. Round 2 is set for Tuesday.
Roberts, a sophomore from Scottsboro, led the NACC effort in Round 1 with a 3-over par 75 during an 18-hole round that featured three birdies.
Maples, a freshman and North Sand Mountain alum, shot a 4-over par 76 during a round that included an eagle on the par-five sixth hole and a birdie on the par-four 12th hole.
Sophomore and Scottsboro alum Greyson Widgeon turned in two birdies and finished the opening round at 12-over par 84 while freshman and Fort Payne alum Owen McGee shot a 14-over 86 and freshman Reece McKlintok, a Kansas native, shot a 15-over 87.
The Mustangs, ranked No. 48 in the NCJAA Division II Men's golf rankings, were in 11th place in the team standings after Day 1.
Round 2 tee times for NACC golfers Tuesday morning are McKlintok at 8:26 a.m., Mcgee at 8:34 a.m., Widgeon at 8:42 a.m., Maples at 8:50 a.m. and Roberts at 8:58 a.m.
