Mustangs ranked No. 3 in final NJCAA DI Softball Rankings
NACC closes regular season this week ACCC series vs. Shelton State
The Northeast Alabama Community College softball team will carry a No. 3 ranking into the final week of the regular season and into upcoming postseason play.
The Mustangs remained at No. 3 for the second consecutive week in the final National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Top-25 Softball Rankings of the 2026 season.
Florida Southwestern State College holds the top spot in the final NJCAA poll while Northwest Florida State is second, NACC third, Temple (Texas) College fourth and Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College fifth to round out the top-five positions.
NACC entered its second season of softball unranked in the preseason NJCAA poll, but the Mustangs debuted at No.4 in the initial in-season rankings after opening the season on a 14-game winning streak. After a week at No. 3 and another week at No. 4, NACC spent two weeks ranked second before spending three weeks at No. 1 before moving to its current No. 3 ranking.
The Mustangs are 45-3 and have outscored opponents 422-95 this season.
NACC is also 26-2 in Alabama Community College Conference play and has locked up the top-seed and an opening-round bye for next week's conference tournament, which is May 14-16 at Liberty Park in Alabaster.
The Mustangs, who had an off week from their usual Thursday-Saturday ACCC schedule, play their final conference series this week against Shelton State. That series begins with a doubleheader Thursday starting at 1 p.m. at NACC's Nathaniel Ledbetter Stadium.
NACC will celebrate "Sophomore Day" at the conclusion of Game 2.
Tickets for Thursday's final home games of the season are available at gofan.co/app/school/AL100680 and students receive free admission by showing a current NACC ID.
