NACC’s Edwards named ACCC Pitcher of the Week for seventh time
Freshman right-hander leads the nation in wins, ERA
The Alabama Community College Conference has announced its Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week, and it's a familiar name to Northeast Alabama Community College softball fans.
NACC freshman right-hander Addie Edwards has claimed the award for the seventh time following another dominant performance last week.
Edwards went 2-0 and pitched 13 shutout innings during the No. 1-nationally ranked Mustangs' four-game conference sweep of Coastal Alabama-South.
Edwards recorded 10 strikeouts while allowing six hits and no walks over seven innings during NACC's 8-0 win at Coastal last Thursday. The Chatsworth, Georgia native then pitched five more shutout innings while recording five strikeouts and allowing only one hit and two walks during a 9-0 win over the Coyotes on Saturday.
For the season, Edwards is 20-0 in the pitching circle with three saves and a 0.51 earned run average (ERA). She was the National Junior College Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 31-April 4 after she threw 10 no-hit innings and pitched NACC's first no-hitter during wins over Snead State.
Edwards leads both the NJCAA and the ACCC in wins and ERA — she has allowed nine earned runs in 124 2/3 innings pitched — while her 149 strikeouts are tops in the ACCC and fourth nationally.
