NACC’s Edwards collects ACCC DI Pitcher of the Week honors again
Freshman right-hander receives award for third consecutive week
Addie Edwards' reign as the Alabama Community College Conference Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week will continue.
The Northeast Alabama Community College freshman right-hander has received the award for the third consecutive time to start the season after another dominant week in the circle, the ACCC announced Wednesday.
Edwards posted victories last week against Central Alabama and Walters State (Tennessee) for the Mustangs, who are ranked No. 4 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division I softball rankings.
The Chatsworth, Georgia native tossed a five-inning, one-hit complete-game shutout during a 9-0 run-rule shortened victory over Central Alabama Feb. 17, finishing with three strikeouts while issuing only one walk. Against Walters State Feb. 21, Edwards allowed only three hits and one walk while recording 12 strikeouts during another complete-game effort.
Edwards currently leads the ACCC in wins (eight), complete games (eight), strikeouts (58) and has the lowest WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched rate) at 0.62. Edwards' 0.60 ERA (earned run average) is the second-lowest in the conference.
