Mustangs post solid finishes at Mountainside Stride Select Meet
NACC men finish fifth in team standings
The Northeast Alabama Community College men's track and field team enjoyed a top-five showing at its penultimate meet of the program's inaugural season.
NACC recorded a fifth-place finish in Covenant College's Mountainside Stride Select Meet Friday at Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
Sophomore Braxton Williams and freshman Sam Adams posted the top finishes for NACC. Williams was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.69 while Adams was third with a time of 1:19.42. Adams also finished sixth in the discus with a mark of 18.35 meters.
Freshman Ephan Benjume posted a pair of Top-10 finishes for the Mustangs with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:08.92) and a ninth-place effort in the 1500-meter run (4:29.34).
Freshman Jose Rodriguez (2:10.30) and Williams (2:13.74) also turned in Top-10 finishes in the 800 for NACC, placing sixth and 10th respectively, while freshman Henry Singleton finished 11th in both the 800 (2:14.35) and the 1500 (4:34.82) races.
Also in the 800, NACC freshmen Ethan Turner finished 15th (2:17.85) while Omar Teletor was 18th (2:20.21), Adams was 20th (2:25.88) and Maccoy Turner was 21st (2:34.50). In the 1500, Rodriguez clocked a time of 4:29.58 to finish 12th while Teletor was 17th (4:55.59), Adams 18th (4:57.52), Maccoy Turner 20th (5:02.82) and Ethan Turner 21st (5:06.45).
Meanwhile, freshman Dania Belman posted a pair of 11th-place finishes for the NACC women's track and field team during the meet. Belman ran a time of 2:52.30 in the women's 800-meter run while clocking a time of 5:58.79 in the 1500.
NACC concludes its first track and field season next month when it travels to Marietta, Georgia to compete in Life College's Keith Wright Memorial Meet April 18.
